The 1979 Topps Wayne Gretzky #18 is one of the most iconic hockey cards and is widely considered Gretzky’s NHL rookie card. The card features a color action shot of Gretzky on the ice, in his Edmonton Oilers uniform, with his name and team printed at the top in a distinctive blue, white, and black design. The Oilers logo is at the bottom right corner. The border is vivid blue with rounded edges and a black inner line. This PSA-graded copy shows typical centering and edge wear for this issue. The card uses standard cardstock typical of late 70s Topps, with simple production (no refractor or foil technology). It is distinguished by its popularity, the rookie status of hockey’s greatest scorer, and limited high-grade availability. There are O-Pee-Chee Canadian versions, but this is the Topps U.S. release.
